POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

Volunteer Coordinator: Regular Part Time


Responsibilities: Assists with all aspects of the community volunteer service coordination to maximize services to IHS guests which includes maintaining volunteer database, working with IHS staff to identify volunteer requirements/priorities, and coordinating recruiting, scheduling, training, evaluating and rewarding of volunteers for not only volunteering within the shelters but for special events, fundraisers, and community activities as well. Assists PR/Volunteer Manager with planning and implementation of such special events, fundraisers and community activities. Develops partnerships with community organizations that can provide volunteers for IHS's needs. Photographs and documents volunteer quotes/information and volunteer activities for quarterly newsletters and other media mediums. Represents IHS at schools, churches and volunteer drives and assists in solicitation of in-kind donations and coordinates annual volunteer recognition event. As needed, gives tours of IHS and drafts communication pieces such as the needs list, brochures and thank you cards.


Requirements: Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally in a clear and concise manner and have good command of the English language. Strong interpersonal and business writing skills a must. Able to multi-task and prioritize daily responsibilities. Works well independently and under pressure. Associate’s in Business Administration, Communication, Marketing or related field. Bachelor’s preferred. Two to three years prior experience in volunteer service coordination. Proficient in Microsoft Office with knowledge of desktop publishing (Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Publisher). Web design knowledge a plus. Must be able to work 20 hours per week. Although schedule is flexible, must be willing to work Thanksgiving Day, other holidays and weekends occasionally. Hours and days may vary based on the needs of the organization. (Salary: $14/hour)

CBCM Case Manager: Regular Full Time


Responsibilities: In a warm and welcoming manner, provides quality case management to include supportive counseling, outreach, provision of safe, decent and affordable housing opportunities, skills teaching/education, family support, service coordination/advocacy, and crisis support. Ensures that client input is included in every step of the entire treatment and recovery process with a commitment to work with clients/ target population in community based settings. Assists individuals to obtain the support, skills, and services necessary to improve their level of functioning within their communities.


Requirements: Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Pyschology, Social Work or related field with at least 12 semester credit hours in courses such as psychology, counseling, criminal justice, human services, social work, social welfare, sociology or other behavioral sciences. Minimum 1 ½ years of specialized experience in human services. Ability to handle administrative tasks of position to include time management, organizational and multi- tasking and documentation skills. Effective problem solving and computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access and/or database applications. Access to vehicle and/or appropriate no-fault insurance with valid driver’s license. CPR and First Aid Certification required (or must be able to complete at agency).

Shelter Assistants: Regular & Casual Part Time (on-call)


Responsibilities: Responsible for maintaining the safety and welfare of IHS guests, volunteers, visitors and staff. Maintains the cleanliness of shelter, performs confiscations and searches and enforces house rules to all persons on property. Supervise community and in-house volunteers. Observes, evaluates and documents guest behavior and provides support for Social Services as needed.


Requirements: Ability to work and communicate with diverse populations of varying comprehension levels. Ability to multitask, work independently and exercise good judgment. Must have good written communication for effective documentation. Must have 6mo-1yr experience in customer relations or security field, knowledge or training in Human Services preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required, valid Driver License and clean abstract required. Regular part time employees must be able to work evenings, weekends and rotating shifts. Starting wage $9.50 and up.
