IHS HOMELESS SUPPORT PROGRAMS
(SHELTER-BASED PROGRAMS)
Homeless Family Support Program:
IHS provides housing transition and support services for homeless families and their dependents. Families are given a three-month stay at the IHS Family Dorm. Stay extensions are granted on an individual family basis.
Homeless Women’s Program:
IHS provides housing transition and support services for homeless adult women (who enter the shelter without any dependents). All women are provided with basic emergency shelter services (sleeping accommodations, meals, hygiene, laundry, mail service).
Homeless Men’s Program:
IHS provides housing transition and support services for homeless adult men (who enter the shelter without any dependents). All men are provided with basic emergency shelter services (sleeping accommodations, meals, hygiene, laundry, mail service).
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program:
The TANF program assists eligible families (single- parent or two- parent households with at least one minor child under 18 years of age living in the home)
with a security deposit and/or the first month's rent. We assist eligible participants in obtaining and retaining suitable rental housing through case management services, provide landlord support, and mediate landlord/tenant issues. Eligibility criteria include resources and assets valued at less than $5,000 and gross monthly income less than 185% of the Federal Poverty Level for household size. Participants must be capable of making future rent payments.
IHS Supportive Housing Program - (Long-Term Programs):
The Supportive Housing Program works to carefully place guests who are chronically homeless into permanent housing, providing critical ongoing support to ensure a healthy transition into an independent living situation. Those with serious mental illness receive additional care from our Intensive Case Management Team.

| Community Reentry Program: The Community Reentry Program (will provide) homeless men's shelter guests with substance abuse problems who are on probation, parole, or have recently been released from prison with quality case management services, assistance developing budgeting, employment, and community livings skills classes. Participants successfully completing the program will receive assistance with first month's rent and/or deposit. The goal of the CRP is to provide eligible participants with firm behavioral, vocational, and social support foundations which will allow them to maintain themselves in the community. |
