Our Mission

IHS provides respite for those who are unsheltered and solutions that transform the lives of homeless and at-risk people. (Adopted 11/08)

Vision Statement

We envision a community where everyone has a right to, and responsibility for safe, decent, and affordable housing. (Adopted 11/08)

Values

  • Kuleana… IHS is committed to serving people who are homeless in our community.
  • Malama… IHS provides the basic human needs of food, clothing, and shelter.
  • We find Pono when we Ho’ohanohano… IHS provides hospitality in an environment of compassion, fairness, and dignity.
  • Ho’omau… We seek to significantly improve the lives of our guests.
  • Alaka’i through Lokahi… Our supportive services are professional, equitable, and transformative.

Other support services provided by IHS or offered in collaboration with other agencies include:

  • Emergency Services: Meals; shelter; showers and hygiene supplies; triage and referral assistance; phone and mail access; clothing; access to laundry facilities.
  • Health Care: General health screenings offered at on-site clinics located at both shelters; urgent medical treatments; vaccinations.
  • Support Services: Specialized Case management; Housing placement; mental health support; substance abuse outreach; budgeting and financial management.
  • Education & Employment: Adult education classes; job-search skills; life-skills instruction.
  • Special Support: Legal consultation through Legal Aid; on-site substance abuse treatment and referral; Alcoholics Anonymous & Narcotics Anonymous; Headstart for toddlers; parenting education.
